A brief History of Oultook
Outlook Church was started on 11 Feb 2001 in Arboretum Primary School Hall. Brent & Kate were sent from Urban Life Church in Midrand where they had served
The Dream
The Outlook Church DREAM has always been to see:
- Lost people brought to salvation in Christ.
- A Church Community of real people, real friends, functioning as a priesthood of all believers, maturing in Christ and leaders being raised up and released into their ministries.
- A BASE Church being established of apostolic people who want to be a blessing to the nations and make a real difference. We spent 10 years in the Arboretum School hall as the church grew to about 200. Then we bought the piece of land we are now on and built the first building in 2010 - an amazing display of the gracious hand of God! The land and building was bought and paid for without going into any debt.
The Dream becomes a reality
Over the past twenty years, we have seen the dream God has for us slowly become more of a reality
- Many people have come to know Jesus and been baptized.
- Great number of people being released into leadership and ministry .
- As a BASE church we are sending out teams around Richards Bay, Zululand, Swaziland, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and doors opened and teams traveling to Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, India and Pakistan.
So what does it mean to be an Outlooker
VISION:
Hebrews 12:2 (NLT) We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.“
JESUS: “To know Christ and to make Him known”
Jesus is our highest value. Jesus our Lord, our Leader, source of Life
MISSION: “We make disciples”
WE: Team effort! To be an Outlooker means to commit to living to make disciples and fulfill the great commission
Matthew 28:19-20 (NLT)
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples
to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you
always, even to the end of the age.”
MAKE - through training, equipping and going
DISCIPLES - followers of Jesus. Trusting, repenting, baptized, obedient, serving, passionate Jesus followers.

Why is membership so important?
We believe local church membership is important because of the enormous responsibility that God places on church leaders. The scriptures put it like this:
Hebrews 13:17 (NLT) Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit.
So membership is important because it informs the leaders who they need to stand accountable to God for.
And secondly it gives the new members an opportunity to choose to come under
the leadership, protection and care of the leaders.
